Purpose

Ensure compliance with state and national regulations within the Nurse Practitioner (NP) program across all concentrations.

Policy & Decision-Making Responsibilities

  • Policy Development: Collaborate in developing policies that align with the interests of the NP programs and Maryville University.

  • Decision-Making: Operate independently with critical thinking in decision-making. Collaborate with concentration coordinators, the Director of the NP Program, the Associate Dean of Nursing, the Dean of the College of Health Professions, and other university stakeholders as needed.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. State Compliance for Preceptors & Clinical Approval

    • Ensure compliance with state requirements regarding preceptor and clinical approval.

    • Submit required reports for states that mandate notification of Maryville students participating in clinicals.

    • Complete Board of Nursing (BON) forms for the clinical operations team.

    • Maintain and submit weekly BON compliance reports to ensure proper faculty licensure oversight in clinical courses.

  2. Program & Clinical Site Approvals

    • Complete applications for state program approvals and clinical site permissions as required.

  3. Regulatory Compliance & NP Council Participation

    • Serve on the NP Council and collaborate with coordinators and lead faculty to ensure curricular compliance with BON regulations.

  4. Clinical Documentation & Oversight

    • Work with the online clinical team to maintain accurate clinical documentation.

    • Pull BON reports and ensure clinical assignments align with state regulations and accreditation requirements.

    • Provide faculty with updates on the clinical tracking system in collaboration with coordinators and the Director of NP Programs.

  5. Faculty Compliance & Assignments

    • Coordinate with operations and academic records teams to ensure faculty course assignments align with state BON regulations.

  6. Preceptor Assistance Oversight

    • Ensure compliance with the preceptor assistance process.

    • Oversee, coordinate, and mentor preceptor assistance faculty.

    • Collaborate with coordinators, the Director of NP Programs, and the Associate Dean of Nursing on this process.

  7. Commitment to Diversity & Teaching

    • Foster a culturally diverse and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students.

    • Teach as required per contract.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the following requirements:

Knowledge & Skills

  • Active Nurse Practitioner with advanced practice expertise.

  • Familiarity with online learning management systems.

  • Ability to support students and faculty in achieving academic goals.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with technology, databases, Microsoft Office, and learning new software systems (Salesforce experience is a plus).

  • Prior leadership and/or mentoring experience preferred.

  • Ability to remain calm, demonstrate leadership, and apply emotional intelligence in difficult conversations.

Education & Experience

  • Required: MSN, national NP certification, minimum of five years of recent clinical experience as an NP, and an unencumbered RN license in the U.S.

  • Preferred: Doctorate in Nursing or a related field.

Work Environment & Conditions

  • Fast-paced environment with potential duties beyond customary work hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Remote applicants will be considered.
