Job Summary/Basic Function

Maryville University is searching for an energetic and forward-thinking Marketing or Business Administration faculty member and graduate program coordinator to join our John E. Simon School of Business where we are serious about our mission to develop technologically-savvy future business leaders. We seek educators who think innovatively, build competence in technology, and use engaging pedagogy to help our students deepen their learning and broaden their perspectives. This is an on campus role.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidates will have the ability and willingness to teach in two or more of the following areas: Strategic Marketing, International Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Branding, Consumer Behavior, Entrepreneurship, Operations Management, Leadership, Business Strategy/Capstone, Supply Chain Management, Organizational Behavior, and/or Project Management. Instruction will be in both online and traditional face-to-face settings, mainly for graduate students (but may include undergraduate teaching), based on program and business school needs. The candidate must be committed to fostering a positive, culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students.

Faculty candidates are expected to:
• Develop innovative pedagogical strategies and use appropriate technology to deliver course content in a meaningful and engaging manner demonstrating both academic and real-world application of concepts covered.
• Foster a teaching-learning environment that values and supports the diversity of students’ ideas, opinions, and backgrounds and prepares them for success in a culturally diverse work force.
• Foster mutually beneficial relationships with business professionals to ensure currency of curriculum and to build internship and career opportunities.
• Support the mission of the Simon School of Business and Maryville University through school, campus, and professional service.


Additional Responsibilities for Graduate Program Coordinator candidates:
• Augment the Assistant Dean in oversight of the graduate programs of Master of Business Administration, and Management and Leadership.
• Provide inputs, as needed, on select undergraduate programs in support of the Assistant Dean
• Collect and analyze data, and provide written narrative for accreditation reports (e.g., Higher Learning Commission, ACBSP).
• Advising of undergraduate students as a normal expectation of faculty assigned to SSOB.
• Participate actively in the hiring, support, and review of adjunct faculty in assigned programs.
• Develop and nurture collegial relationship with partners in the School of Adult and Online Education (learning designers, admissions team, advisers, and adjunct faculty support team).

Minimum Qualifications for Assistant Professor/Graduate Program Coordinator candidates:
• Earned Doctorate in Business Administration, Management, or closely related field (ABD candidates considered)
• College or university level teaching experience
• Willingness and ability to learn new academic technology and engaged pedagogy to facilitate student learning
• Prior experience either in course development, curriculum oversight, or program coordination

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Academic qualification in both Marketing and either Business Administration, Management, or Human Resources areas.
• 3+ years relevant, industry experience, esp. in areas such as management or human resources
• Experience in online teaching and online course development
• Experience with workplace analytics and/or decision support systems
