This is a 12 month, professional live in position reporting to the Director of Residential Life. The Residential Hall Coordinator participates as a member of the Residential Life staff, creates opportunities for student development through excellent programming and individual student interactions, and demonstrates a strong student focus with evening and weekend commitments. This position is responsible for the organization and leadership of student development activities, supervision of RA and desk staff, adjudicating conduct, and management of administrative operations of assigned residential areas. The Residential Hall Coordinator must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse and inclusive atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students.
Responsible for submitting updates to Residential Living Guide and Residential Assistant Agreement.
Responsible for innovative decision making for departmental programming, advising for the Housing Experience (HEX) programming board. Select a diverse group of students to serve as Residential Assistants.
The Residential Life Coordinator directly supervises a graduate assistant and Residential Assistants. Indirect supervision of front desk student staff.
Leadership and Supervision: Select, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate Graduate Assistant and Resident Assistants within assigned area. Manages residential areas consisting of 150-550 residents. Supports student programming efforts and assists with program advisement, implementation, and coverage. Work with the Coordinators, Graduate Assistant and Director of Residential Life to create department goals, training and development, learning outcomes, and assessment plans that are in line with the University’s vision and strategic plan.
Program Development, Implementation, and Assessment: Lead and support student programming efforts and assists with program advisement, implementation, marketing strategy, training and coverage. Manages Residential Assistants programming to ensure it supports departmental values, aligns with the Student Life Wellness Wheel and reaches the needs of the diverse population of residential students. Maintain existing signature programs within Residential Life. Support the Housing Experience (HEX) Programming Board through advising, promotion and attendance at programs. Create new engagement opportunities and implement effective programs (building and community), workshops, and services for residential students. Collect program evaluations/attendance data and tracks engagement in residential spaces, to achieve strategic goals in-line with the University mission. Partner with the Center for Student Engagement & Belonging, Athletics, Life Coaches, or other campus partners to execute large scale campus-wide traditions. Support student programming for all of Student Life.
Student Conduct and On-Call: Participate in on call responsibilities, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution. Assist in contacting/requesting emergency transportation of residential students to health care facilities. Responsible for enforcing University policies and procedures. Serve as a conduct hearing officer for designated space.
Collective Partnerships: Work closely with the Center for Student Engagement, Athletics, Admissions, and other partners on campus wide initiatives. Serve on a variety of committees within the Division of Student Life and University community and participate in all department professional activities. Assist with planning and executing campus wide programs through collaboration with the Center for Student Engagement and Division of Student Success for orientation and student on-boarding.
Student Conduct: Collaborates with the Dean of Campus Life and Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance on reviewing issues and cases that may encounter student bias or Title IX incident reporting. Serves as a Residential Life reviewer and liaison for conduct adjudication to help facilitate and resolve issues. Consults regularly with Director of Residential Life regarding student conduct.
Recruitment and Retention: Provide five-star service to support residential students and families. Contribute to the achievement of enrollment goals by designing programs that support the recruitment and retention of students and by assisting other departments with enrollment-related initiatives. Participates in New Student Orientation, Admissions visit days, University Scholars Weekend and other university-wide events as deemed necessary. Partners with other Student Life staff as indicated and seeks out opportunities to work collectively with others across the university.
Building Management: Oversee opening and closing of residential facilities during University recesses and supervise check in/out operations. Coordinate, in conjunction with Director of Residential Life room changes and placement. Maintain residential hall records and inventories; issuance/replacement of building keys; damage assessment/billing. Partner with Facilities staff regarding maintenance issues and building work orders.
Other: Maintains a high profile and visibility at student programs, athletic events and campus initiatives which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and times when classes are not in session. Attends Student Life meetings, trainings, retreats, and planning sessions as deemed necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
