Job Summary/Basic Function

Maryville University seeks an Assistant Professor of Forensic Science (Chemistry) to join our faculty in delivering and developing courses in forensic science and chemistry. The successful candidate will provide curricular guidance, maintain and enhance the program, and work closely with students and faculty to promote a dynamic, inclusive learning environment. This is a 9.5-month full-time faculty position, with tenure-track consideration based on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities: • Teaching (60%): Teach assigned forensic science and chemistry courses using a variety of pedagogical styles that combine academic theory with real-world applications. • Curriculum Development (5%): Assist with curriculum development and updates to ensure the program stays relevant, aligning with current forensic and chemical sciences. • Student Engagement (10%): Foster an inclusive teaching-learning environment that respects and values diverse student ideas and experiences, preparing them for a diverse workforce. • Internship & Career Development (10%): Cultivate relationships with local professionals and organizations to develop internship opportunities and a career-relevant curriculum. • Student Advising (5%): Work closely with students, academic advisors, and Life Coaches to support students’ academic and personal success. • Recruitment & Admissions (5%): Participate in student recruitment and advising to promote program growth and student engagement. • Service (5%): Serve on University and School committees as required.

Minimum Qualifications

o Master’s Degree in Forensic Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field o Strong teaching skills with demonstrated experience in pedagogical innovation o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal o Proficiency in using technology for teaching and learning purposes o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an academic environment
