Job Summary/Basic Function

As a Life Coach, you will deliver innovative, proactive, and personalized coaching focused on academic, career, and financial success to students, including an assigned caseload of students. Life Coaches are student-centered and committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students. Life Coaches are committed to serving all students in a variety of hybrid and digital formats to support university values: personalized learner- centered flexibility, five-star experience, DEI, data-driven, and courageousness.
Life Coaching Core: Serve as the retention & persistence specialist for student caseload. Contribute to recruitment events and onboarding programs aimed at the successful social and academic integration for students and families. Administer, analyze, and utilize learning diagnostic tools and predictive risk factors to create a personalized coaching strategy for each student.
Academic Success Coaching: Provide timely and accurate academic advising for students. Stay current in advising requirements for all programs and academic policies. Offer academic coaching for students to assist them in reaching their personal and professional goals.
Career Success Coaching: Provide career coaching to help students achieve professional goals and to educate students on career development skills. Actively collect and document career outcomes on students with a collective knowledge rate goal of 75% or higher.
Digital Success Coaching: Leverage a digital-first approach to holistic student coaching. Utilize digital resources, omnichannel communication methods, and AI tools to deliver proactive and personalized support.
Financial Success Coaching: Provide financial coaching by leveraging knowledge of financial aid and student account basics through tier 1 support. Assist students and families in navigating the complexities of financial aid options, advising on available resources, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations governing financial aid programs.
Pillar Expertise: Serve as an expert within a Life Coaching success pillar: academic success coaching, career success coaching, digital success coaching, and financial success coaching. Demonstrate tier 2 knowledge in this area to provide specialized coaching for all learners aimed at holistic student success in support of Maryville’s coaching philosophy.
Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all student interactions through enterprise systems. Provide prompt response to student inquiries to ensure a five-star experience.
University Seminar: Serve as a University Seminar instructor each fall semester. Actively engage peer mentors in planning, engaging and supporting students.
Generalist Knowledge: Be a Maryville expert for all students through knowledge of policies/people/departments, and general awareness of available resources and program offerings.
Ad Hoc: Other duties and committee work as assigned.

Preferred knowledge/experience: Caseload management Customer service Digital technology tools and resources Academic, career, and financial support K-12 or higher education experience Commitment to create a diverse and inclusive environment for students and colleagues Exemplary customer service skills Ability to develop one on one relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff Ability to work on multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines with minimum supervision Proficient with computer applications and ability to learn and utilize new technology Ability to maintain confidentiality Impeccable communication skills.
