Job Summary/Basic Function

The Financial Wellness and Debt Management Coordinator focuses on leveraging technology to increase accounts receivable and decrease outstanding collections while fostering financial literacy and accountability among students. The role will provide proactive scalable support for student financial services, helping students understand payment options, resolving outstanding balances, and navigating financing education. The Coordinator will leverage proactive strategies, such as automated reminders and online platforms, to enhance service efficiency. By focusing on scalability, the Coordinator will anticipate and implement solutions for a growing student population.

Essential Responsibilites:

Proactive Communication with Students: Implement varied automated communication strategies to decrease outstanding debt by encouraging timely payments, while also increasing accounts receivable through proactive outreach and support and payment options that facilitate better financial management for students.

Monitor Unpaid Balances & Delinquent Payment Arrangements: Leverage technological solutions such as automated payment reminders and student account dashboards to track outstanding balances and follow up on delinquent accounts. Ensure students are aware of financial responsibilities, payment options, and deadlines through efficient digital tools, streamlining communication and encouraging timely payments.

Evaluate Payment Plans & Options: Continuously review and implement innovative, student-friendly payment plans and options, ensuring they effectively meet student needs while leveraging the latest technology to provide a seamless and accessible payment experience.

5 Star Service: Provide comprehensive student financial information across all communication channels to not only address immediate inquiries but to anticipate student needs, with the ultimate goal of implementing 24/7 self-service solutions for continuous support and accessibility.

Process Payments: Digitize and expedite the payment experience by accepting and posting payments from students and third parties through efficient online platforms, ensuring accurate records for cashiering reports and reconciliation.

Facilitate Third-Party Transactions: Digitize and expedite third-party transactions by proactively communicating with students and third-party payors. Streamline the process for required documentation, invoicing, and approval to ensure timely and successful student sponsorship.

Processing Solutions/Gaps: Foster partnerships and collaboration across the university to assist with operational gaps as needed. This includes maintaining the quality and continuity of financial counseling services through coordinated efforts with various departments and teams.

Develop Financial Wellness Resources: Continually innovate student financial wellness resources by incorporating best practices and delivering them in omnichannel formats. Provide 24/7 support to empower students through financial literacy, ensuring they have access to guidance to manage their financial well-being effectively.

Ensure Internal Controls: Work to mitigate institutional risk by ensuring that adequate internal controls are in place to monitor student accounts and refunds, protecting the financial health of the institution.
